Community Gardens

Green Village Initiative previously supported 12 Community Gardens throughout Bridgeport. We transferred management of the garden sites directly to the gardeners in between 2023-2024. We still offer them education and support to protect these green spaces for community and urban growing.

Each garden site has a unique culture and feel cultivated by the gardeners and farmers that occupy them. More than 100 gardeners grow fresh herbs, flowers, and vegetables for their families’ tables. From Thai chilis to gandules, strawberries, callaloo, and corn, these gardens are a primary source of clean and culturally relevant food in many neighborhoods from Spring to Fall.
